The study of creative writing is the study of the craft of artistic expression. In the Creative Writing program, you will develop your craft as a writer and storyteller, working in fiction, poetry, and/or creative nonfiction. Engaging in the writing process and the workshop experience, you will develop your own voice as a writer and your ability to express complex experiences, emotions, and ideas in creative writing. A degree in creative writing prepares you for transfer and many different academic, professional, creative and personal futures.
What can I do with this major?
A degree in Creative Writing can take you many places and into many careers. It can prepare you for continued work and study in creative writing, English, and other creative and humanities fields. As a writer and creative, your skills will be useful in many different jobs and areas. The ability to think creatively, to write clearly and powerfully, to provide critical and constructive feedback, and to think deeply about human experience are critical skills.
