Program Description
This certificate will provide you with skills to communicate efficiently in oral and written Japanese in your everyday personal or professional life, and open opportunities to participate in your community and beyond. You will develop an extensive cultural knowledge of Japan, which is one of the largest economies in the world by GDP with hundreds of billions of dollars spent by the Japanese on consumer goods and services.

What can I do with this major?
Graduates with this degree will be prepared to: work in the fields of education, entertainment, media, interpretation/translation, hospitality/tourism, banking/finance, government/immigration, sales/customer service, and other relevant fields; seek work for Japanese companies with offices in the USA, Canada, and Asia and communicate well with potential customers, business partners, employers or vendors; use Chabot Japanese language course units for Certificate of Achievement in Entrepreneurship and UC and CSU transfer requirements.

Introduction to the Japanese cultures of the world featuring the study and practice of the four language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) of Japanese. Following an immersion instruction format, the class is entirely taught in the target world language of the selected course.

Further study of Japanese-speaking cultures of the world featuring the acquisition of the four language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) of Japanese begun in Japanese 1A. Following an immersion instruction format, the class is entirely taught in the target world language of the selected course.
