This noncredit course is part of a noncredit certificate of competency in preparation for Business and STEM Math. This course is free and students may repeat this course until mastery of the skills is met. This class provides corequisite support to help students succeed in MTH 1 as AB 1705 permits all students to enroll in MTH 1, starting Fall 2025. This course includes skills review, laboratory, study group, collaborative workshop, and/or computer laboratory time.

Review of prerequisite mathematics skills used in calculus, such as:

Operations with polynomials and rational expressions
Solving equations of various types in one variable
Solving inequalities
Solving system of equations
Algebra and composition of functions

Sketch functions resulting from transformations of basic functions
Sketch polynomial and rational functions by hand
Factoring techniques
Simplifying expressions involving exponents and radicals
Formulas in geometry and analytic geometry

Equations and inequalities involving trig functions

Find an equation with slope -1/3 and passing through (4,-2).
