I'm ready to get started. What do I do next?

  1. Review this program map to get an overview of the required courses
  2. Meet with a counselor to develop your customized student education plan www.chabotcollege.edu/counseling
  3. Use DegreeWorks, an online student education planning tool, to track your progress toward graduation www.chabotcollege.edu/admissions/degreeworks

If you have an interest in fitness and desire a career in the health sciences, consider pursuing a degree in kinesiology. Kinesiology is the study of the body's movement. Kinesiology specialists use their knowledge of human physiology and movement to help recover patients' mobility and improve their lives through exercise. You would want to earn this degree if you intend to transfer to a Cal State University (CSU) to complete a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology.

Students completing the degree are guaranteed admission to the CSU system, but not to a particular campus or major.

Kinesiology majors have many different career options, such as:

  • Fitness and Wellness Coordinators
  • Physical Education Instructors
  • Certified Athletic Trainers
  • Personal Trainers
  • Strength and Conditioning Specialists
  • Group Exercise Instructors
  • Sports Coaching
  • Physical Therapists
