Measurable Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
  1. execute advanced yoga asanas;
  2. execute advanced single leg balance postures;
  3. demonstrate core strength through advanced yoga postures;
  4. demonstrate lower resting heart rate and blood pressure through the use of meditation and relaxation techniques.
Course Content:
1. Advanced yoga postures and routines.
2. Advanced Downward Dog
3. The Crow - Advanced posture
4. Advanced Lunge postures.
5. Pigeon Pose
6. Headstand pose
7. Firefly
8. Monkey
9. Head down hero pose
10. Journeling and relaxation exercises to lower heart rate and blood pressure.

Assignments and Methods of Evaluating Student Progress:
  1. Demonstrate to the class three advanced asanas or poses. Explain to the class the benefit of each pose.
  2. Keep a daily journal. Record in this journal your resting heart rate for each day, your overall stress level and your blood pressure reading for the week. Keep track of activities that you performed that improved your stress level and things in your life that triggered your stress response.
  3. Read the chapter on relaxation and inner peace. Write a short paper on methods that you can use to relax and lower stress in your daily life.
