Measurable Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
- demonstrate passing drills and defensive strategies need to play basketball at an intermediate level. Those skills include dribbling, passing and shooting with either hand;
- demonstrate the ability to play a non-stop 40 minute basketball game;
- evaluate individual and team performance in all aspects of the sport, including technique and offensive/defensive strategies;
- discuss and demonstrate complex offensive and defensive team play.
Course Content:
- Present nature of game and opportunities for play outside of class
- Care and use of equipment
- Court conduct and conditioning
- Basic skills for presentation of the baseball pass, two-hand overhead pass,one-hand wrap around pass, hook shot, free throw and jump shot

Assignments and Methods of Evaluating Student Progress:
1. Typical Assignments
- Read the chapter on passing drills and be prepared to explain terminology and demonstrate a baseball pass, two-hand overhead pass, and one-hand wrap around pass.
- Analyze and critique students hook shot, jump shot, and free throw shooting technique. Provide feedback to help improve their performance.
- Describe the following violations and indicate the consequence of each violation. (1) Palming the ball; (2) 1 shot or a 1 and 1 foul; (3) 2 shot foul; (4) basket interference.
- Diagram on the board the position set up for advanced defensive team play.
