Measurable Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
  1. demonstrate side foot passes;
  2. demonstrate dribbling with both the inside and outside of the foot;
  3. demonstrate intermediate ball drills - trapping the ball with the sole of the shoe;
  4. demonstrate team strategies utilized in intermediate levels of play;
  5. demonstrate a measurable improvement in cardiovascular fitness.
Course Content:
1. Kicking with both the inside and outside of the foot.
2. Passing with inside and outside of the foot.
3. Dribbling with the inside and outside of the foot.
4. Trapping.
5. Shooting.
6. Intermediate ball drills.
7. Playing positions and team strategy.
8. Cardiovasular improvement through aerobic team play.

  5. Handouts and rule interpretations.
  6. Small Group Coaching
Assignments and Methods of Evaluating Student Progress:
  1. Demonstrate dribbling with the inside, outside and sole of shoe during a futsal simulated game.
  2. Write a one page paper on the general rules of the game of futsal and how they differ from traditional soccer.
  3. Calculate your aerobic target heart rate training zones for 70, 80 and 85% of maximum heart rate. Now explain how those numbers relate to improvement in cardiovascular fitness.

  • Indoor soccer or rubber-soled shoes, shorts, t-shirt, socks and shin pads.
