This course is designed for those tennis players who are competing in tournaments or league play. The course will cover strategy, court positioning, footwork and conditioning, and tennis strokes technique.
Prerequisite: PEAC TEN3.

Measurable Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
demonstrate the various formations that can be utilized in doubles play;
describe and demonstrate the outside, inside, and transition shots as they relate to high percentage play;
demonstrate and describe net positioning, as it relates to offensive vs. defensive court positioning.
Course Content:
Review and practice of the advanced skills , such as:
Forehand , using 3 different grips.
Backhand, using both topspin and backspin.
Serveing for consistency, depth, and accuracy.
Volley, using proper footwork and correct grip.
These skills will be explained, demonstrated, and practiced on an advanced level.
Explanation, demonstration, and practice of the following skills:
Groundstrokes, high percentage vs. low percentage shot selection.
Net play, poaching, faking, formations, and court positioning.
Conditioning for tennis competition.
Explanation, demonstration and practice of advanced team stategy relative to:
Singles play.
Doubles play.

Assignments and Methods of Evaluating Student Progress:
Read the chapter on doubles formations, then write a paper on the pros and cons to each formation.
Read the chapter on forehand technique, demonstrate to the class, the differences using the three grips.
Read the chapter on volley technique, write a paper on the proper grip and footwork needed for correct volley technique.
