Measurable Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
  1. demonstrate how to design a high intensity interval training session;
  2. demonstrate how to calculate target heart rate training zones;
  3. Within a small group, demonstrate how to teach the deadlift, clean, and overhead press.
Course Content:
  1. Heart rate based training and how it works
  2. Calculating your target heart training using a variety of methods
  3. How to accurately measure your heart rate while training
  4. Single leg deadlifts
  5. Single leg squat
  6. In depth drops and how they improve strength
  7. Rope training
  8. Using the Bosu balls for core strength
Methods of Instruction:
  1. Class and group discussions
  2. Demonstration/Exercise
  3. Group Activities
  4. One-on-one coaching
  5. Small Group Coaching
Assignments and Methods of Evaluating Student Progress:
  1. On paper show your calculations for your target heart rate using the Karvonen method.
  2. Lead a group of three through a short high intensity workout, making sure each member of the group can complete the workout.
  3. Lead a small group through a series of cool down exercises.

Upon the completion of this course, the student should be able to:
  1. demonstrate team working skills by solving problems together;
  2. calculate and explain target heart rate training zones.
