Measurable Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
Evaluate and improve physical conditioning relevant to the demands of baseball;
Demonstrate the essential skill components for high level competitive baseball;
Demonstrate the decision-making skills for competitive level baseball;
Track blood pressure;
Identify foods that raise blood sugar levels.
Course Content:
Role of resistance exercise in overall health and wellness.
Principles of resistance exercise.
Identifying metabolic syndrome
Getting the essential tests done with your physician
Shopping and eating in a new way to improve your health
The risks of being sedentary
Physical conditioning for baseball which may include exercises to improve the following: aerobic capacity, strength, speed, agility, power, flexibility, etc.
Baseball drills and skill/technique practice to improve individual proficiency.
Strategy/tactics to improve baseball awareness, decision-making, and execution.

Assignments and Methods of Evaluating Student Progress:
Read the chapter on strength and injury prevention. Be prepared to discuss how increasing strength can prevent injuries.
Evaluate areas of skill/technique that you would like to improve. Execute a plan to enhance your skill/technique in those areas.
Write an evaluation of your improvements in physical conditioning based upon pre- and post- assessments.
