Measurable Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
demonstrate proper set up for recurve and compound bow shooting;
demonstrate proper stance and shooting with both a compound bow and a recurve bow;
describe how visualization and focus can affect shooting within an archery competition;
demonstrate how to clout shoot accurately;
properly adjust and distribute their weight when shooting both a recurve bow and a compound bow;
shoot accurately and competitively at distances up to 45 yards.
Course Content:
Introduction to the recuve bow
Introduction to the compound bow
Proper site set up when shooting a recurve bow
Site set up when shooting a compound bow
Stance and shooting differences for a recuve bow versus a compound bow
Visualization and relaxation techniques to improve focus and accuracy when shooting
Clout Shooting - What is it and how to practice it safely
Adjusting stance and body position based on the bow used
Target accuracy when shooting a recurve bow and a compound bow at 45 yards and beyond

Assignments and Methods of Evaluating Student Progress:
Write a one page paper on how to set up an archery shooting session for both a recurved bow and a compound bow. Be able to list the commonalities and differences when safely setting up target practice for these two types of bows.
Read the chapter on recurve bows and the chapter on compound bows. Make a check list on the stance and shooting differences when using these types of bows.
Present and demonstrate to the class two methods to improve relaxation and visualization when shooting in an archery competition.
Set up and score a clout shooting competition.
