Designed to allow archers who have completed beginning archery (ARH1) an arena to enhance their archery knowledge and skill level.
Prerequisite: PEAC ARH1.

Measurable Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
  1. properly and safely string a bow;
  2. demonstrate instinctive sighting and bow sight shooting;
  3. demonstrate open and closed stance shooting;
  4. shoot accurately at distances up to thirty yards;
  5. score an archery tournament;
  6. design and score an intra-class archery tournament;
Course Content:
  1. History of Archery
  2. Safety when stringing a bow
  3. Methods to string a bow
  4. The bowsight
  5. The Peep sight
  6. Draw to anchor
  7. Release to finish
  8. Open Stance shooting
  9. Closed Stance shooting
  10. Target shooting up to 30 yards
  11. Scoring when target shooting
  12. Keep tournament scoring when shooting
  13. Setting up a seven person archery tournament

  4. Hands-on Activities
  5. One-on-one coaching
  6. Handouts and rule interpretations.

Assignments and Methods of Evaluating Student Progress:
  1. Write a short paper on the differences between shooting with a closed stance and an open stance.
  2. Set up a seven person team archery tournament. At the end of the tournament total the team scores and rank the teams according to their score.
  3. Demonstrate to the class how to properly and safely string a bow.
