Measurable Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
  1. demonstrate and draw out a 4-2 offensive set up;
  2. demonstrate and draw on paper a 6-2 offensive set up;
  3. demonstrate and draw on paper how to hide the setter during the serve.
Course Content:
1. Evaluation of setters for competitive team play
2. Offensive sets from the back row
3. Defensive positions to hide the setter during service
4. Evaluation of offensive and defensive front row players
5. How to block in the front row
6. Back row positioning based on front row defenders
7. Service based on defensive positioning
8. 6-2 Offensive team set up and responsibilities of each position
9. 4-2 Offensive team set up and responsibilities by position 
Methods of Instruction:
  1. Activity play

  3. Demonstration/Exercise

  5. One-on-one coaching
  6. Small Group Coaching
Assignments and Methods of Evaluating Student Progress:
  1. Draw out a basic 4-2 offensive set up for volleyball.
  2. Draw out a basic 6-2 offensive set up for volleyball and describe the responsibilities for each position.
  3. With a small group demonstrate proper position rotation in and out of the game in a 6-2 offensive set up.
  4. Write a short paper on the importance of shielding your setter during service.

Upon the completion of this course, the student should be able to:
  1. Demonstrate, using a group of people on the court, how to set up a 6-2 offense in a serve receive position
  2. Explain tournament scoring and how to prepare offensively for a two day volleyball tournament
  3. Demonstrate how to block in the front row
