This course is designed to teach advanced skills and strategy in recreational volleyball. Students will learn a variety of setting, hitting and blocking drills to enhance their ability.
Prerequisite: PEAC VOL2.

Measurable Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
  1. demonstrate basic and intermediate offensive play in volleyball;
  2. choose an advanced volleyball offense based on your team make up;
  3. demonstrate a short set;
  4. demonstrate a long set;
  5. demonstrate a quick set;
  6. set up a defensive formation;
  7. signal offense and defensive plays while on the court.
Course Content:
  1. Deciding on an offense based on your team make up
  2. Setting: short sets, quick sets and long sets
  3. Defensive service set up
  4. Defensive plays
  5. Approaching the net on defense
  6. Signaling offense and defensive plays while on the court
  7. Ability to play at an advanced level

Assignments and Methods of Evaluating Student Progress:
  1. Demonstrate to the class how to perform a quick set.
  2. Demonstrate to the class how to hide your setter in a defensive rotation.
  3. Read the chapter on offensive strategy. Write a one page paper on the 4-2 and 6-1 offense. Give pros and cons for using both.
