ART 3D - Figure and Composition IV

3.00 Units

Continued development and skills further developed in Art 3C. Emphasis on composition and color and different figurative design elements during the drawing of the human form. Drawing elements stressing individual philosophies and expressions.
Prerequisite: ART 3C.

Measurable Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
  1. use individual styles and techniques to experience how to design advanced figurative compositions;
  2. utilize their own ideas and philosophies to construct with increasing difficulty advanced figurative works of art;
  3. explore with increased complexity the use of color in figurative works based on their own personal views and emotions;
  4. use color, line, mass and other drawing skills with increasing complexity;
  5. apply the skills of drawing the figure and figure compositions to professional and collegiate goals.

  5. Create class and home drawings emphasizing the student’s individual emotions

Assignments and Methods of Evaluating Student Progress:
  1. Draw a three or more figure composition based on a personal experience
  2. Draw a three or more figure composition based on an historical event

  2. Empirical tests and critiques
  3. Critical analysis of assigned work
  4. Final drawing project based on eight or more figures in a compositional setting
Upon the completion of this course, the student should be able to:
  1. Draw and construct complicated compositions using various mediums.
  2. Draw, color and construct complicated compositions using multiple meduims
  3. Draw, color and construct the figure with individually developed content
