ART 3C - Figure and Composition III

3.00 Units

Continued development of knowledge and skills further developed in Art 3B. Emphasis on composition and color and different figurative design elements during the drawing of the human form. Drawing elements stressing emotions and expressions.
Prerequisite: ART 3B.

Measurable Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
  1. apply eye and hand coordination to draw figures using color in composition;
  2. demonstrate advanced ability to see and draw three-dimensional form, the most versatile which is the human figure;
  3. use color with skill in figurative compositions and in singular figurative drawings;
  4. use skills to express emotions in composition and figure;
  5. apply the skills of drawing the figure and figure compositions to professional and collegiate goals.
  6. Build an individual portfolio of figurative drawings.

Assignments and Methods of Evaluating Student Progress:
  1. Draw a three or more figure composition based on the emotion happiness
  2. Draw a three or more figure composition based on the emotion deep thought

  2. Empirical tests and critiques
  3. Critical analysis of assigned work
  4. Final drawing project based on seven or more figures in a compositional setting
Upon the completion of this course, the student should be able to:
  1. Design figurative compositions with an emphsis on emotional content
  2. Draw a figure composition base on clear and precise design
  3. Draw in color the human for an emphasis on expression and indivduality
