Advanced projects in acrylic painting with emphasis on individual creative work and development of personal ideas and style.
Prerequisite: ART 13C.

Measurable Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
  1. demonstrate advanced usage of tools and techniques of painting in acrylics;
  2. name and skillfully replicate several specific perspectival strategies to alter a two-dimensional picture plane into an illusionistic three-dimensional space;
  3. express a deeper, more thorough appreciation of the value of conceptual and emotional assumptions of oneself and other painters;
  4. skillfully paint subjects of several genres, including still life, landscape, figural, and non-representational art;
  5. organize a professional presentation for showcasing the final paintings;
  6. develop ways to critique own work for self-improvement;
  7. visit museums and galleries as a learning source.

Assignments and Methods of Evaluating Student Progress:
  1. Paint a series of paintings (2 to 4) that visualizes a personal, emotional outlook. These pictures should have common themes and similar images, yet be different paintings; therefore, teaching the student to develop multiple answers to a single theme or idea
  2. Connect and relate historical imagery with the your own personal themes and concept.
  3. Using a San Francisco gallery map: by next class, visit 10 galleries showing paintings.

Upon the completion of this course, the student should be able to:
  1. Student will be able to grasp and produce works of art that combine the pychological impact of society with their own paintings.
  2. Student will be able to paint subjects of several genres
  3. Students will be able to demonstrate a through appreciation of the value of the conceptual and emotional ideals of their painting
