Description:
The Early Childhood Education AS-T prepares you to work with children 0-5 years of age in many different care and education settings. The courses and requirements align with requirements for California licensing and California Child Development permits. Students will graduate with a fundamental understanding of how children grow and develop, as well as experience working with children and seeing theory in action. The AS-T in degree allows for a seamless transfer to aligned majors and curriculum at California State University campuses and completion of your degree with 60 additional units.
What can I do with this Major?
Graduates with this degree will be prepared to be: head teacher in private, public, faith-based and for-profit preschools and Pre-Ks; a teacher’s aide in an elementary classroom; head teacher in an afterschool program; owner of a Family Child Care home. Graduates can transfer to a CSU campus into early childhood education, elementary education, child and human development degree programs. This can lead to careers in child development, early childhood mental health, elementary education, and child and family policy and advocacy work.
