Measurable Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
demonstrate mastery of advanced construction techniques, including hand-building and plaster mold-making techniques;
use clay to further develop personal authentic expressions through a variety of themes, both figurative and abstract;
load kiln and program ramp cycles for bisque firing in an electric kiln;
mentor and collaborate with Beginning Sculpture students.

Course Content (Lecture):
Advanced exercises that develop three-dimensional awareness and require exploration and manipulation of the basic three-dimensional elements.
Further development of a variety of three-dimensional materials and techniques that teach the dynamic relationships of three-dimensional elements and organizing principles of design.

Course Content (Studio):
Load kiln and program ramp cycles for bisque firing in an electric kiln
Mentor and collaborate with Beginning Sculpture students
Further develpment of personal style in hand building techniques for hollow construction of clay forms:
Coil building a cone, dome or sphere
Slab building a box or cylinder
Plaster mold making
Hollow constructed or solid armature
Further develpment of personal style in surface decoration techniques:
Creating texture while clay is still plastic by modeling, pressing stamps or other objects into wet clay.
Carving or faceting clay forms when leather hard
Decoration with slip, engobe, glaze, underglaze on greenware or bisque
Creating a graphic image using slip and sgratifito
