Measurable Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
  1. demonstrate the ability to properly execute in depth jumps with a medicine ball toss;
  2. demonstrate a proper drive phase from a standing position;
  3. demonstrate two legged hurdle hops;
  4. identify and demonstrate the power lifts that contribute to greater speed;
  5. a dynamic warm-up;
  6. a proper cool down.
Course Content:
1. Plyometrics with medicine ball tosses : Landing, double leg, single and in depth jumps
2. Medicine ball and bungee cords for development of speed and power
3. Using hurdles and obstacles to develop speed and power
4. The accelleration phase from a three point stance
5. Drills to develop speed, agility, and proper running mechanics
6. Designing a proper warm up routine
7. Developing a proper cool down routine

Assignments and Methods of Evaluating Student Progress:
  1. Write a one page paper and discuss with class how the Olympic lifts can improve speed and overall power.
  2. Demonstrate how to do a double leg drop and forward medicine ball toss.
  3. Write out a proper warm up sequence.
