This course is designed to provide an extreme high intensity interval functional workout for the whole body.
Prerequisite: PEAC HTA3.

Measurable Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
  1. demonstrate the core strength to complete a three minute non stop core routine;
  2. demonstrate the cardiorespiratory ability to complete a three minute step test;
  3. demonstrate the strength and flexibility to complete a non stop twenty minute functional training interval session;
  4. Understand the basics of body composition and its relation ship to health and well being;
  5. Understand the basics of proper nutrition and the importance of consuming a low glycemic diet;
  6. demonstrate knowledge of target heart rate training and how to assess their cardiovascular endurance.
Course Content:
  1. Stability Core Exercises and proper alignment
  2. How to calculate target heart rate training zones and why it is important to train in your targe zone
  3. Three minute step test for cardiovascular assessment
  4. Assessment of lean body mass and fat mass
  5. Bodyfat assessment and implications for long term health
  6. The importance of eating a low glycemic diet for long term health
  7. Resistance training and its relationship to lean mass and metabolism
Methods of Instruction:

Assignments and Methods of Evaluating Student Progress:
  1. Keep a two week food diary. Review the diary and identify those foods that fall in high glycemic catagory.
  2. Measure your heart rate upon completing the three minute step test. Remeasure your heart rate one minute later while sitting. Record the results. This assessment will be complete every six weeks. At the end of the course review your progress. What did you discover? And why?
  3. Take the body composition assessment during the first week of class. How do your results compare with the recommended results for long term health and wellness? What changes can you make to improve upon your assessment?

Upon the completion of this course, the student should be able to:
  1. demonstrate advanced knowledge and comprehension of strength building body weight exercises;
  2. utilization of various body toning and strength building implements & tolls (i.e., dumbbells, body bars, etc);
  3. demonstrate advance knowledge and understanding of nutritional requirements within a physical fitness protocol.
