Measurable Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
  1. run 2 miles;
  2. perform 35 situps;
  3. perform 10 or more push ups for a female, 35 or more push ups for a male;
  4. males perform 3 pull ups and females a pull up;
  5. run/walk non stop for 45 minutes at 70% maximum heart rate.
Course Content:
  1. Body composition - What is it and Why it is important
  2. Heart Rate Training to improve running performance
  3. Assessment of strength, strength endurance and aerobic endurance parameters
  4. Designing a plan to improve fitness in every area
  5. Why proper nutrition is vital to physical improvement
  6. Drills to simulate and improve performance on miltary fitness training
  7. Putting the plan into action

Assignments and Methods of Evaluating Student Progress:
  1. After reading the chapter on body composition, write a one page paper showing how exercise and proper nutrition can influence performance.
  2. Demonstrate to the class two different types of push ups or sit ups.
  3. Design a two week personal training plan that addresses aerobic development, strength development and flexibility.
