Measurable Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
  1. hit from a tee to all the fields of play;
  2. throw to the correct cut off player from the outfield;
  3. identify the difference between a rise ball and a curve ball while standing in the batter's box;
  4. demonstrate how to approach a short hop in the infield;
  5. know who takes covers the second base on a ball hit to the right side of the infield.
Course Content:
  1. Hitting from a tee
  2. Hitting from a tee to designated areas 
  3. Hitting from a pitching machine
  4. Hitting off a live pitcher
  5. Identifying pitches
  6. Outfield coverage
  7. Throwing from the outfield to the cut off position
  8. Infield play
  9. Receiving grounders
  10. Infield coverage based on where the ball is hit

Assignments and Methods of Evaluating Student Progress:
  1. Demonstrate how swing level and hit to every outfield.
  2. Diagram on a chalk board the movement of the infield players based on a ball hit to the right side of the field with a man on first and second with one out.
  3. Demonstrate throwing from right center field to the proper cut off man.
  4. Demonstrate how to perform a two handed short hop in the infield.
