Prerequisite: PEAC FUN3.

Measurable Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
  1. demonstrate the ability to properly interval train using the equipment in the room;
  2. demonstrate how to properly use functional equipment in a safe manner;
  3. assess and analyze their improvement in strength and cardiovascular fitness.
Course Content:
1. Interval training: How  and why it works.
2. How to do high intensity interval training in a functional circuit.
3. How to assess strength.
4. How to assess cardiovascular fitness.
5. Setting up a training plan to improve strength and cardiovascular fitness.
6. Setting realistic goals for improvement in strength and cardiovascular fitness.

Assignments and Methods of Evaluating Student Progress:
  1. Have your body composition measured. Now come up with a plan to improve your body composition utilizing exercise and diet changes.
  2. Read the chapter on stress reduction. Practice one week of controlled deep breathing and report on your experience to the class.
  3. Read the chapter on high intensity interval training and then write a one page paper on the concepts that bring about an improvement in fitness using this method of training.

  1. Demonstrate and explain the physiological reasons for performing a proper warm up.
