PEAC FFT1 - Intermediate Fire Fitness Training

Designed to raise the fitness level of future firefighters developed in PEAC FFT or FT 88A. May not received credit if FT 88B has been completed.
Prerequisite: PEAC FFT or FT 88A.

Measurable Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
- demonstrate competency with 24 foot extension ladder evolution for safety and proper technique;
- demonstrate competency with appliances and hydrant evolutions for safety and proper technique;
- complete physical assessments and interpret results;
- collect and interpret nutritional data;
- develop, set and track appropriate physical and occupational goals;
- demonstrate competency with knots used int he fire service for competency and time.
Course Content:
- Ladder evolutions including the 24' single person lift, carry, place, pivot, extend, retract, and return without safety failure and including proper technique and commands
- Two person 24' ladder evolution completed without safety failure and with proper technique and commands
- Hydrant and appliance evolutions for safety, competency and time
- Knots used in the fire service for accuracy and time
- Intermdiate core training
- Introduction to HITT and circuit training for the fire officer
- Nutritional strategies for the shift work
- Aerobic, anaerobic and muscular endurance training

1. Typical Assignments
- Completion of an evolution of physical tasks for competency: ladder operations
- Completion of a set of physical tasks in a group scenario: hydrant charge and hose drag
- Completion of a series of physical tasks: knots
