Measurable Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
demonstrate the sport-specific physical conditioning required to compete in baseball;
demonstrate the correct mechanics and position play on defense when playing baseball.
demonstrate mental training strategies (goal setting, concentration techniques, etc.) during competition;
evaluate individual performance in all aspects of the sport;
demonstrate positive social behavior (sportsmanship, leadership, group dynamics, etc.);
evaluate team performance in all aspects of the sport including technique and offensive/defensive strategies.
Course Content:
Practice and performance of offensive specific skills (hitting, situational hitting, short game, base running)
Practice and performance of position-specific skills (outfielders, infielders, pitchers).
Development, execution, and evaluation of team offensive and defensive strategies.
Sport -Specific physiological training & conditioning.
Mental Training & performance enhancing strategies.

Presentation of audio-visual materials
Assignments and Methods of Evaluating Student Progress:
Read the chapter on "Relaxation for Game Performance" and be prepared to discuss various techniques of relaxation.
Chart, analyze and critique one teammate's defensive and offensive execution during a "pre-game execution" practice situation.
Design a daily practice plan that emphasizes both offensive and defensive preparation.
Describe and analyze game strategies as they relate to both the offense and the defense.
Take the Baseball IQ Tests- multiple choice and true/false. Analyze your score and identify areas for improvement.
