Measurable Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
  1. demonstrate mental awareness, self discipline, strength, cardiovascular conditioning, and flexibility;
  2. redirect an aggressor’s negative energy;
  3. demonstrate basic Aikido blending, ukemi, projections, and neutralizations;
  4. demonstrate basic bokken and jo techniques.
Course Content:
  1. Warm-up exercises
    1. Range of motion, flexibility, strength
    2. Ukemi – forward and backward rolls
  2. Techniques
    1. Stepping and blending
    2. Projections
    3. Neutralizations
    4. Motion, Resistance, Connection, Control
    5. Creative combinations
    6. Multiple attack defenses
    7. Use of Bokken and Jo
  3. Pair Practice
  4. Group Practice

Assignments and Methods of Evaluating Student Progress:
  1. Demonstrate three multiple attack defenses
  2. Neutralize a single attacker from the front
  3. Demonstrate in class, three stepping and blending movements
  1. Improvement of physical and mental abilities
  2. Successful performance of Aikido techniques to the best of the student’s ability.
  3. Working with other students to improve techniques.
  4. Creative use of Aikido techniques.
  5. Performance testing

Upon the completion of this course, the student should be able to:
