Measurable Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
track their blood pressure;
summarize the individual offensive basketball techniques;
explain and demonstrate the individual defensive techniques;
apply fundamental team defensive strategy and recognize at what point in game they should be utilized;
explain the rules of basketball;
demonstrate an ability to train at a high level of cardiovascular fitness while playing the game of basketball.

Instruction will be given in large groups, small groups and individual basis.
Assignments and Methods of Evaluating Student Progress:
Create a chart demonstrating your knowledge of the footwork of defensive close-out, ready-stance, and defensive slides. Make sure you show the similarities and differences.
Demonstrate correct ball handling skills. Advance the ball without committing the violations of traveling and double dribbling.
Demonstrate the correct mechanics of shooting a basketball. Shoot correctly as many 20 foot jumpers as you can in 30 seconds.
Read the chapter on offensive techniques and explain the benefits of committing to develop, on a regular basis, the fundamentals of footwork and conditioning.
Read the chapter on blood pressure and blood sugar. Be prepared to discuss how these to measurements relate to pre-diabetes and hypertension.
Measure blood pressure twice weekly over six weeks. Keep a journal of each day's measure
Demonstrate the development of shooting skills and strive to convert 30% of their three-point shot attempts.
Each student will be required to participate on a regular basis and demonstrate specific skills relative to the subject. An understanding of the rules of basketball will be required.
