Measurable Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
contribute to the planning and publication of a DV film project and/or presentation, and participate
in carrying out the plan;
demonstrate acquisition of new skills in production assistance including research, budgets, permits, clearances, releases, location scouting, film crewing, post-production, marketing, screenings, and festivals;
analyze and evaluate marketing strategies for various types of film productions and presentations;
incorporate input from other people (such as instructors, clients, and fellow students) to continually improve and refine a project as it progresses.
Course Content:
Contributing to the planning and production of DV film projects and/or presentations, including setting goals and devising practical strategies for reaching those goals
Acquisition of skills in production assistance including research, budgets, permits, clearances, releases, location scouting, film crewing, post-production, marketing, screenings, and festivals
Analysis and evaluation of marketing strategies for film productions and presentations
Incorporation of applicable advice and criticism from people who have experience with similar projects
Methods of Instruction:
Computer and other technology demonstrations
Group discussions
Lecture/Discussion
One-on-one meetings with the instructor
Selected readings and audiovisual materials
Seminars, conferences, and festivals
Studio and location productions
Assignments and Methods of Evaluating Student Progress:
Research assigned subjects for a narrative or documentary DV film.
Scout locations and obtain permits for filming.
Assist with various film production crew positions and post-production activities.
Create and distribute marketing materials for a film production and/or presentation.
Periodic progress reports
Observation by instructor
Presentation and evaluation of completed assignments

Final project
Upon the completion of this course, the student should be able to:
